FOR Tanga residents, Beach Resort Hotel is a place to tonight as it hosts this year's Miss Tourism Tanga beauty contest.

Ten beauties are expected to battle it out for title and the jackpot that goes with it in the anxiously awaited event.

The young ladies will compete in, among other things, dancing to the folk music tunes in the pageant to be graced by the Tanga Regional Commissioner,  Athumani Kalembo.

Event organisers have set aside a total of 3.5m/- for those who will excel at promises to be an exciting event.

Famed vocalist Muumin Mwinjuma and his Bwagamoyo Sound band are among musicians expected to spice up the pageant.

Bongo Flava stars Maunda Zolo and Kassim Mganga will also be in hand to thrill the modeling enthusiasts in tonight's pageant.

The top five in the event will secure tickets for the national Miss Tourism finale to be held in Dar es Salaam later this year.

Miss Tourism Tanzania organising committee chairman, Gideon Chipungahelo, assured the Tanga residents yesterday that preparations for the event were in place.
